 2023 Preview

Mobile Christian completed the 2022 season with a 6-8 record. With their 3-4 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 3A region one, the Leopards earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Mobile Christian made a nice playoff run in 2022, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good St. James team by the score of 35-7.

The Leopards lost as many games as in any season since 2008.

The defense was very stingy last season as Mobile Christian ranked 31st in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 14.2 points a game.

Since 2010, Mobile Christian has gone a combined 104-56. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 3A over the past thirteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Mobile Christian has managed to compile a record of 170-119. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 3A and 95th in the AHSAA.

The Leopards are led by head coach Ronnie Cottrell who is entering his eighth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 60-29 over the past seven seasons at Mobile Christian. Under his direction the Leopards have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Cottrell. His 161 wins rank 30th among active coaches in the AHSAA. The win total includes 123 wins in Alabama and 38 victories from outside the state. Over the course of his career, Coach Cottrell's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times and won six region championships.

The Leopards are loaded once again and will be ready to make a push toward a trip to Tuscaloosa in December. A ton of talent on defense even with the loss of Sterling Dixon.

The Leopards are considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Don't be surprised if the Leopards are making another deep run into the playoffs. The Leopards have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2014 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

QB Landen Snow will be returning after completing 45 of 87 passes for 912 yards last season along with 11 touchdowns.

Receiver Aaron Rogers will return after catching 33 passes good for 701 yards and 9 TDs as a junior last season.

The Leopards open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Athens Academy GA on Friday, August 25 at Harrison Field.

Mobile Christian and Athens Academy GA have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Leopards have a 1-1-0 record against Athens Academy GA. They last met in 2022 with Athens Academy GA winning by a score of 23-7.

The Leopards return 3A All-State Junior offensive lineman Bo Cagle. He was named to the first team last season. The Leopards also return Junior linebacker Kentonio Kelly. He was named to the first team. The Leopards also return Senior defensive back Camden Lawson. He was named to the second team. The Leopards also return sophomore punter Carter Lewis.
